Nicholas Owen is a journalist, television presenter and radio presenter. He now works for the BBC.

What is your favourite place in Sussex?

Ditchling Beacon, with its fantastic views along the South Downs towards Eastbourne, and amazing views the other way, towards where I live in Surrey.

What advice do you have for your 12-year-old self?

Realise how incredibly lucky you are if you end up earning your living doing something you love.

What is your most valued possession?

Apart from Mrs Owen, you mean. I guess it would be a nice watch she gave me many years ago.

She is always urging me to buy a new, flashy one. No way. Her gift will always be with me.

What is your biggest regret?

Hard to say. Very, very few regrets. I worked once in Las Vegas, and should have gone to see the Grand Canyon not

far away.

But ITN wanted me back to read the news in London, so I rushed back to the UK.

What is your biggest fear?

I suppose being trapped underground. I went potholing once. Never again.

What is your proudest achievement?

Professionally, it would be the years

as ITN’s Royal Correspondent. It

was the 1990s, a time of great Royal Family turbulence. Princess Diana’s

death was the biggest story I’ll ever

report.

Which five people (living or dead) would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Admiral Nelson, Nelson Mandela,

Ronald Reagan, Harold Evans (one-time Sunday Times editor) and actor Tom Hanks.
