BRUNO has revealed why tonight’s Spanish test can be a perfect warm up for the Premier League.

The Seagulls take on promoted Girona on the Costa Brava as the penultimate warm-up to their top-flight return.

Girona are being bank-rolled by Manchester City, Albion’s opening opponents, and include ex-Middlesbrough duo Bernardo and Cristhian Stuani. But Bruno is also welcoming the tactical battle facing his men in Palamos.

The Seagulls skipper told The Argus: “It’s going to be a very good test for us, especially because of the way they play.

“They play the three at the back.

“City have been playing with three at the back lately as well.

“The Spanish style is more about keeping the ball and it is quite different to what we are used to.

“It is going to be a really good test for us.

“They are almost like a City B. All of us know the power of City now in the market.”

Anthony Knockaert is already a doubt for the City clash in 11 days’ time after suffering an ankle injury in the opening friendly against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

But Bruno said the Frenchman was in upbeat mood – after a tough period just after the injury.

He said: “We all of us know how important pre-season is to starting the season well and he was really disappointed with his injury.

“But he has seen the light at the end of the tunnel. His mood changed quite a lot.

“He was quite down and now he is back to normal.”
