Chris Hughton has hinted that he might give Anthony Knockaert a midweek run-out in the Carabao Cup.
The Frenchman could build up his early-season minutes by taking on Barnet at the Amex on Tuesday.
Knockaert came off the bench at Leicester yesterday – as he did on the opening day against Manchester City and the Atletico Madrid friendly.
Asked whether Knockaert could have started against his old club, the Albion boss said: “It was close. The only reason I didn’t was because he has had a different pre-season to everyone else.
“He didn’t play 90 minutes in the whole of that pre-season period.
“He had an input (yesterday) and he had an input in the last game.
“We have a game in midweek and I will use the players I need to use – and then look to pick a team for next Saturday.”
