FIREFIGHTERS from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service went above and beyond when completing their charity ladder climb challenge.

Two ladders were pitched against scaffolding in which crews continuously climbed for the duration of the event before descending via a pole drop.

Around 30 firefighters and officers aimed to climb the height of Mount Everest, with help from the public, in just six hours.

Due to their phenomenal efforts, the height of Everest (29,029 feet) was reached in just three hours 45 minutes.

However, promising that they would climb for six hours, they continued for another 19,341 feet until Mount Kilimanjaro was summited too!

As a result of the crews’ admirable dedication, £2047.26 was raised for The Fire Fighters Charity and the Disasters Emergency Committee East Africa Appeal.
