Albion transfer record-breaker Jose Izquierdo is not afraid of the price tag after completing his £13.5 million move from Belgian club Brugge.

The Colombian left-winger has been officially unveiled by the club and will make his debut at the Amex on Tuesday night against Barnet in the Carabao Cup.

The Seagulls have now smashed their transfer record three times this summer.

The fee for Izquierdo eclipses the £10 million paid for Dutch midfielder Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven and before that £5.2 million for Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan from Valencia.

Izquierdo, 25, (below) said: "It is motivation. We always feel pressure. If they pay that it's because it's deserved. You've showed something that they like and it's for your work.

The Argus: "You have to keep that in mind, work every day to improve yourself and give everything to the club."

Izquierdo has been patiently waiting for his move to be finalised. He had to train alone at a secret location while Albion sought a work permit after agreeing terms with him and Brugge.

That was granted last Wednesday and Izquierdo then had to leave the country for the British Embassy in Paris for his visa.

All the necessary paperwork, including international clearance, has been finalised and Izquierdo is now eager to repay Albion's faith in his ability.

"They are a team that believe in me," he said. "They have followed me. They came to me, showed the project they have for Brighton and the new challenge in the Premier League.

"I like it and then I made the decision. The Premier League is a top league. I hope I can show all my qualities and help the team.

"The training ground is amazing, the project they have is unbelievable and my team-mates have welcomed me.

"I have been waiting for this moment for a long time since I've been at Brighton to finally play my first game."

Asked what he will bring to the team, Izquierdo declared: "Speed! A lot of shots and I hope also goals."
