PHYSIOTHERAPIST Gemma Freeman has been selected to represent Great Britain in the ITU World Triathlon championship .
Gemma, 30, from Brighton will complete a 1.5k swim, a 40K cycle and a 10K run in the 30-34 age group in Rotterdam on September 17.
She was selected after taking part in an event at Arundel in July, just three months after competing in her first triathlon.
Gemma, who works as a senior physiotherapist at The Horder Centre in Crowborough, has always been sporty and played a lot of football until a year ago when an old neck injury flared up.
She gave triathlons a go though had never really swum competitively until she joined Brighton Triathlon Club where she began training and she trains seven times a week.
She said: āI was delighted to be selected for the team. Iām really looking forward to it and am just going to see how it goes for my first national event.ā
She joined Horder Centre in 2011.
