A DRIVER has been arrested after an 86-year-old woman died when she was hit by his car yesterday afternoon.
The elderly pedestrian was knocked down on the Old Shoreham Road in Hove at 1.14pm and died of her injuries at the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses but have already arrested the 39-year old driver of the black Toyota Celica involved in the crash.
The lady's next of kin have been notified by Sussex Police, who have requested that those with information contact them on 101 quoting Operation Parakeet or serial 680 of 02/09.
