A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for very strong winds.

Storm Aileen is expected to bring winds with gusts of 50-60mph on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

While the majority of Sussex will miss out, with the tip of the east of the county could be effected with Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings among the towns in the storm's path.

The yellow warning wind comes into place between 8pm on Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday.

The Met Office's Chief Forecaster said: "Gales and local severe gales are expected to arrive in the west of the region later on Tuesday evening and move eastwards overnight.

"Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, especially in the north of the warning area, resulting in especially difficult driving conditions.

"This warning has been expanded further south across Wales and also includes the far southeast of England, whilst the strongest winds are now less likely to affect Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland and the far north of England, so these areas have been removed."
