A MAN faces jail after being caught with hundreds of child porn images on his computer.

Paul Evans, 52, from Telscombe Cliffs, was found to have downloaded 800 indecent pictures of children on his laptop when police raided his home after his web activity was flagged up.

He pleaded guilty to making 336 category A indecent photographs of a child – images of the most serious nature – at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard Evan’s lust for child porn was exposed when his online activity was flagged up.

Between November 30, 2016 and December 1, 2016 he uploaded 110 indecent images to the internet using online file sharing software.

Officers monitoring the web identified his IP address which was registered to his home in Telscombe Cliffs Way, Telscombe Cliffs, Peacehaven.

Officers raided his home to seize his computer on July 5.

On arrest Evans said “I look at all types of porn, teenage and child porn, but haven’t distributed any.”

Prosecuting, Laura Devitt, said: “In his police interview Evans made a frank and honest admission that he was fully aware of what he had done.

“He said ‘I am solely responsible for downloading child porn.

“I wish I was caught during my stage watching bestiality porn.’”

Evans was found to have 336 Category A images involving penetrative sexual activity with children.

He had 81 Category B images of children – involving non-penetrative sexual activity with children.

He also had 350 Category C images of children.

The starting point for sentencing for being in possession of Category A images is 12 months.

Chairman of the magistrates Gary Gates choose to send Evans to crown court for sentencing as he judged his sentencing powers were not sufficient.

He said: “You have pleaded guilty to an offence that fell beyond our sentencing powers, as they are so serious.

“So I am sending you to Lewes Crown Court on October 19 on unconditional bail.

“If you do not appear for sentencing you will be held in custody.

“You have pleaded guilty to a sexual offence so you are required by three days to go to a police station and give them your details.

“You must notify police if you stay at an address where anyone under the age of 18 lives.”

The case has been committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on October 19.
