A MAN has died after he was hit by a train at a level crossing.
The 25-year-old was struck at Ripe Level crossing in Firle Road, West Firle, near Lewes.
British Transport Police officers were called at 5.46am this morning and attended alongside paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb).
The man's family has been informed and it is not being treated as suspicious.
No trains were running this morning between Lewes and Eastbourne.
There were replacement buses at Eastbourne and Lewes serving all stations.
Stations affected were Lewes, Glynde, Berwick, Polegate, Hampden Park and Eastbourne.
Southern Rail tweeted around 2pm trains resumed service between Lewes and Eastbourne.
