A TEENAGER had to be rescued after plunging 15ft on to a rocky beach.
Emergency services were called after reports of the boy falling at Peacehaven Promenade.
The incident happened at about 8.30am today.
Sussex Police requested the help of the Coastguard, with crews from Birling Gap and Newhaven on hand to rescue the boy.
Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service stabilised the casualty before the Coastguard arrived.
The Coastguard team used their rope rescue technique to bring the boy to safety.
He was then taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by paramedics.
George Papadopoulos, senior maritime operations officer for UK Coastguard said: "We wish this young boy a speedy recovery and would just like to remind people that if they see anyone in difficulty on the coast to please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
