A FRESH appeal for witnesses has been issued one month after a police car crashed into a pedestrian and killed them.

David Ormesher, 79, was struck by the vehicle near the junction of Edward Street and Devonshire Place in Brighton.

Mr Ormesher, from Poole, Dorset, died at the scene.

The fatal accident happened at about 1am on Friday, August 25.

IPCC investigators have spoken to the officers involved who have given their first accounts of what happened.

Door to door enquiries in the area have also taken place.

An inquest into Mr Ormesher’s death has been opened and adjourned.

IPCC Commission delegate Catherine Hall said: “The investigation is making good progress, but on this day, one month after the tragic death of Mr Ormesher, I am asking for anyone with information to contact us.

“It is important we establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything that could assist our investigators.

“Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this terrible incident and the IPCC will continue to work with the family of Mr Ormesher and Sussex Police throughout this investigation.”

Witnesses are asked to contact the IPCC on 0800 029 4685 or via email at edwardstreetrti@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk
