NOEL Gallagher has announced a gig at the Brighton Centre – less than a month after his younger brother Liam did the same.

The Gallaghers were the driving force behind hugely successful Britpop band Oasis, who split up in 2009 as the brothers’ relationship deteriorated.

Noel will perform with his band High Flying Birds on April 22, 2018. Liam will play a solo concert at the same venue on December 15.

Noel’s gig is in support of new album Who Built the Moon? which is released on November 24. Featuring Paul Weller from The Jam and Johnny Marr from The Smiths, the record is Noel’s third under the High Flying Birds name.

He formed the group a year after the break-up of Oasis, having taken the decision to leave the band after a row with Liam before a gig in Paris. Who Built the Moon? was madewith DJ and composer David Holmes, who said Noel’s fans would be “surprised” by the direction Noel took for the album.

Holmes said: “I think people love Noel and they’re desperate for him to make a really big, bold, uptempo beast of a record. A lot of Noel’s music is quite mid-tempo. This one is fun.”

A track called Holy Mountain – an experimental love song – acted as a catalyst for the rest of the record.

Discussing the song, Noel said: “What’s more joyous than being in love, baby? So, I wrote a song about love and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

Liam rarely misses an opportunity to poke fun at Noel, however, and he took to Twitter to comment on the album. He wrote: “Psychedelic music by a beige drip is like a vegetarian try ing to sell you a kebab.”

Noel’s date at the Brighton Centre is the first of 12 concerts around the UK and Ireland. Oasis played at the venue in 1994 and 2002.

Liam recently said he would welcome an Oasis reunion, add ing that he and Noel were “better together” than apart.

He said: “I would prefer to be talking about an Oasis album than a Liam solo album.”

Tickets for Noel’s upcoming concert go on sale on Friday at 9am.
