A HOSPITAL trust is on target to keep its finances under control.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust reported a deficit of £28.39 million in August, which is in line with the £28.7 million planned.

The trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, is forecasting to end the financial year with an agreed deficit of £65.4 million.

It is in financial special measures as bosses work to balance the books.
