Crawley midfielder Dannie Bulman has stood up for sent-off team-mate Josh Yorwerth.
The centre-back saw red along with opponent Tom Parkes in the closing moments of Carlisle’s 1-0 win at the Checkatrade Stadium today.
They were dispatched after a violent brawl which also led to three players being booked.
Carlisle substitute Richie Bennett had earlier been shown a straight red by referee Kevin Johnson for a flailing arm on Yorwerth.
Bulman said of the melee: “Josh was on the floor and people stamped all over him.
“He was trying to protect himself as in not get trodden in the face and he gets sent-off. We will see what happens with that one.”
Hallam Hope scored on 51 minutes after Jimmy Smith and Jordan Roberts went close for the hosts in the first half.
