BOSS Chris Hughton believes Albion are playing catch-up with their points tally heading into the second international break of the season.

Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal has left the Seagulls in 14th placewith seven points from their opening seven games in the Premier League.

Hughton told The Argus: “I don’t think you are ever satisfied. There are certainly a couple of games where I felt we could have got more.

“If I look at Bournemouth, 1-0 up, even if you come out of that game with a draw it’s healthier than losing.

“There have been disappointments, because I think we could have had slightly more, but we are a new team coming into this division and learning.

“We have played Arsenal and Man City. They have showed in recent games what they can do and in both of those games we have not been (beaten) out of sight.

“I think we could have done more, but we’ve done okay.”

Albion have taken one point out of 12 away from the Amex, at Watford against ten men for an hour.

Hughton said: “There were more positives from the (Arsenal) game than negatives. It’s also understanding how difficult these games are away from home.

“I hope the away results will come.

“We saw a turnaround at Watford, again a game I thought we could have won.”

Glenn Murray will be a strong starting contender when the Seagulls return to action at home to Everton on October 15.

The centre-forward made another late substitute appearance at the Emirates after ankle trouble.

Israeli striker Tomer Hemed, one of several members of the squad now away on international duty, is still suspended for the Everton game and the trip to West Ham five days later.
