Albion defender Lewis Dunk would improve Liverpool.

Former West Ham striker turned pundit Leroy Rosenior made the claim during a Premier League event in Bangalore, promoting live coverage in India of Albion's clash against Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton at the Amex today (1.30pm).

Rosenior, father of Dunk's Albion team-mate Liam, said: "I was talking up Lewis Dunk the other day, asking why Liverpool have not looked at him as a defensive option - not that I want to see him leave Brighton - but he could go into a top six side and he would improve them."

The accolade from Rosenior coincides with Albion boss Chris Hughton talking up Dunk, Solly March and Dale Stephens.

Gareth Southgate will see a trio of English players impressing in the Premier League if he visits the Amex again, according to Hughton.

"He (Southgate) came down last season when the under-21s trained here," Hughton said. "He was very impressed with what we have here."

Asked what Southgate would get from another visit, Hughton said: "I suppose the ones that have been mentioned include young Solly March (below) who has played for the under 21s and done ever so well.

The Argus: "You have Lewis Dunk, Dale Stephens who has had a really good start for us. He (Southgate) would be aware of what we have and you only have to look at the last game (Lithuania) and see he introduced players who have been in good form and haven't been involved before.

"First and foremost our English players have to do well for us. If they get any recognition it will be because they have done well for us and we would be delighted with that.

"Their big excitement at the moment is that they are playing in the big league and a league they worked very hard to get into. None of them want to lose that opportunity.

"That's the biggest drive for them, anything which comes from that is a really nice bonus. But for them it's playing and doing well against the best players and getting results."
