SUPPORT and companionship service MyLife Lewes - which supports residents to live independently in their own homes - has raised more than £450 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It hosted a coffee morning for clients and their families, the general public and staff at the MyLife Lewes office.

MyLife Lewes employees brought in a selection of cakes and made hot drinks, with all proceeds donated to Macmillan.

Tabitha Byford one of MyLife’s assistants, very bravely took part in Brave the Shave and had her hair completely shaved off.

Each year Macmillan Cancer Support asks people to dig deep in order to fund its support services for those affected by cancer.

Sarah Shaw, Care Manager at MyLife Lewes, said: “We are huge advocates of the incredible work Macmillan Cancer Support carries out each year.

“Cancer has impacted the lives of many of our staff and clients and we are delighted to have helped in the fight against it – and had an enjoyable social gathering in the process!”

MyLife Lewes’s services include dementia care packages, respite and personal support or assistance with everyday tasks such as shopping or housework.

MyLife Living Assistants are matched to clients according to their specific needs with care varying from an hour’s visit once a week through to 24-hour live-in care.

MyLife Living Assistance was launched in 2015 to meet the fast increasing demand for help at home to maintain individuals’ independence and has quickly become a vital part of many lives.

It is managed by a senior management team with considerable experience across the health and care sector.

MyLife is a division of Carewatch.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Cancer is not a single disease with a single type of treatment.

There are more than 200 different types of cancer, each with its own name and treatment.

If you or a loved one is dealing with cancer, Macmillan’s Online Community is a place you can talk to others who understand what you are going through.

Many of its Community members say hearing from others who are going through similar experiences helps them feel less alone.
