An estate agent said: “Sitting at the eastern end of Cromwell Road backing onto the Sussex County Cricket Club ground, this first floor apartment is ideally located for cricket fans.

“Creating a fantastic backdrop to a spacious room, the views of the cricket club from the modern French doors in the large master bedroom offer an instant wow factor that’s hard to ignore.

“The French doors of the master bedroom open onto a south-facing balcony offering direct views of the Sussex County Cricket Club. Perfectly sized for a bistro table and chair, this is an ideal space to relax in the sunshine while you watch a match and the perfect vantage point for the annual fireworks display.”

He added that there had already been a lot of interest in the “highly sociable” property.

Sussex County Cricket Club, the oldest of the 18 county teams in the country, was formed in 1839.

Sussex took ownership of the land on which the ground stands in 1871.

They harvested the barley crop that stood in the field at the time, then transferred the turf from the former Royal Brunswick ground and laid it to form the County Ground. Sussex played their first match at the County Ground in 1872, against Kent.

The pavilion, the Spen Cama Pavilion, was renovated in 2011, after a former Sussex president, left the club a £12 million legacy in 2001 which supported refurbishment work. It also paid for new stands and upgraded floodlights.
