A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The 42-year-old man , from Chiswick, London, was taken in by police following a two car collision in Richmond Terrace, Brighton, at 7.15am this morning.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "A 42-year-old man from Chiswick, London, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit."
Rush hour commuters had faced delays after the accident, with Brighton and Hove Buses reporting some of their services were delayed.
The accident in the northbound carriageway has now been cleared.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
The man remains in custody.
