FILMING for the Brighton Rock remake concluded yesterday with the cast dipping their toes in the sea for the final scene.

Around 50 extras and cast members gathered on the beach to hop in the water next to Brighton Palace Pier to film the last part of the ten-minute remake.

Produced by Redux, this version of the 1947 classic is being shortened to just include the most important scenes in the film.

Members of the public were asked to take part in the water scene.

Brighton resident Lisa Manser was one of those who decided to get involved after seeing an advert for the roles posted on Facebook.

She played one of the deck chair girls from a clip on the pier. Ms Manser said: “It has been so much fun. I’ve never done anything like it before.

“We performed Brighton Rock when I was at school . It’s an iconic film and I’m born and bred here, so for me it was something really special.

“I’ve met some brilliant people and it’s been a great experience.”

The re-make was shot over two days, Wednesday and yesterday, and other locations used include Brighton Station and The Lanes.

Actress Miriam King played Ida, one of the film’s main characters. She said: “I think one of the best things about it has been filming in the same locations, that’s so important. It’s going to be quite tongue-in-cheek because it is a reduced version of the original, but I think it will be a lot of fun.”

The film will be premiered at the Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts in Brighton next Friday at 8pm.
