YOUNG and old pulled together to raise more than £50 million for Children in Need.

The amount is a record for the night of the broadcast with many more millions expected to come in over the next few weeks.

Across Sussex, schools, work places, youth centres and nurseries got into the spirit with cake sales, fancy dress and much more.

Among those raising money were the children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s day nursery in Burgess Hill.

The children held a cake sale and had a dotty dress up day on Friday.

Gemma Burnett, nursery manager, said: “We’ve had lots of fun and would like to thank all of the parents for their support too, their help makes such a difference.”
