HUNDREDS of people are planning on protesting at a controversial talk by Katie Hopkins.

The outspoken former The Apprentice contestant and columnist is due to give a talk at the Lewes Speakers festival on Saturday. Scores of people have spoken about condemning her “hateful” views.

Organiser Rae Hart, said: “Katie Hopkins will be spreading her vitriol in Lewes on Saturday.

“It’s such a shame Lewes Speakers Festival is giving her a platform

“Let’s show her we do not accept her vile, fascist hateful views and we fully support the migrant, refugee, LGBTQI communities she sneers on. Let’s show solidarity with those she thinks should be subject to genocide.

“This is not about ‘freedom of speech’ this is about intellectual integrity and solidarity with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people that suffer enough. Please share Brightonians and Lewesians and everyone else that might be about to counter her message.

“I’m all for free speech but Katie Hopkins just says provocative and offensive things to further her own career. I’m not supporting that under any circumstances.”

Organiser Marc Rattray had originally said the event might have to be cancelled for fear of “upsetting all of Lewes” but yesterday confirmed the event would still be going ahead as planned.”

Katie Hopkins has forged a career on her right-wing controversial views, condemning migrants, Muslims, obese people, those with ginger hair, the working class, unemployed working mothers.

Katie Hopkins will be talking at the event about her book Rude - part memoir and part advice for living your life as a woman like her.

Those opposing her talk posted pictures on social media showing her book positioned between tomes on Hitler and Goebbels apparently on the shelves of the Lewes branch of WH Smith this week.

Newell Fisher, who posted the picture, said: “People like her normalize fascist thinking.

“I always try to remember that Hitler started out as a silly little man in a mac being arrested in a beer hall.”

In response to her detractors, Ms Hopkins yesterday tweeted “I strongly refute the suggestion I sneer at the refugees. I mock them appropriately @LewesSpeakerFes.”

Tickets were last night still available for her talk , priced from £10.

The event at the All Saints Centre in Friars Walk starts at 6.45pm.

Protestors are expected to gather outside the venue from 6pm.
