REVELLERS have a unique opportunity to party like Eskimos in an igloo on the beach this Christmas.

Six pop-up igloos made their debut in the summer at Brighton Music Hall and were so successful the numbers have increased to ten for the festive period.

The Brighton Beach Igloos will be on the venue’s terrace, set in the restored Victorian arches near the West Pier.

They will be offering live music, drinks and food.

While the bar is usually packed to the rafters throughout spring and summer, the terrace space was always rather wasted during the winter.

Having searched for a solution, proprietor Steve Simpson stumbled across some igloos on the riverbank by Tower Bridge on a trip to London.

Mr Simpson said: “It was a grim December Sunday lunchtime when we spotted the twinkling igloos from across the Thames and had to look.

“The area was quiet owing to the weather but the igloos were buzzing with people enjoying Sunday lunch and a mulled wine.

“They were so busy we had to book for the following week and on our visit enjoyed the cosy rugs and cushions while enjoying the spectacular views around us.

“The space was toasty and warm and with twinkling fairy lights all around, the world was transformed into a warm magical place.

“The igloos were filled with laughter and celebration as people drank and dined.

“I knew I had to bring them to Brighton beach.”

Each igloo holds 16 people and will be free to hire every day from November 30 until January 1, excluding Christmas Day.

During the daytime, the igloos are available for drinking and dining and at weekends Brighton Music Hall’s tradition for live music continues with singers and bands entertaining guests as they enjoy the warmth of the heated igloo.

A family-friendly food menu and the venue’s “winter warmer” drinks selection will also be on offer.

On Sundays, with an emphasis on family fun, Santa will be making an appearance.

In the evenings in the run up to Christmas Day, party packages are available for banquets or buffets in the igloo along with entertainment from a magician and fire acts. Guests will then enter the main venue for performances by a live band and DJ.
