BRIGHTON College had to be evacuated after a bomb scare.
The school received a hoax phone call saying there was a bomb inside at around 11.50am today.
A spokeswoman for the school said staff followed "normal procedures" and evacuated the pupils.
Children were taken back inside at 1.30pm.
Police are now investigating and the matter is being dealt with as a malicious hoax.
Superintendent Edward De La Rue, of Sussex Police, said: "The incident is under investigation as a malicious hoax at this time.”
A force spokeswoman said: "Police have responded to a claim that a bomb has been placed in Brighton College.
"The report was received shortly after 11.50am on Thursday at the college in Eastern Road.
The college made the decision to evacuate pupils for a period, and police attended to liaise with the college staff."
