THE Bevern Trust welcomed scores of people taking part in the first ever Lewes Santa Run to Harvey’s Yard.

The fun run kick-started the festive season for the town as Santas suited-up for a Yuletide run and walk, setting off from Harvey’s Yard around Malling Brooks in Lewes, raising vital funds for the Sussex disability charity.

Beneficiaries from the charity’s home Bevern View in Barcombe also took part with family and friends supporting them along the way.

The route was fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs so the whole family could take part, even festive dressed dogs!

The charity’s patron, newsreader and television presenter Natasha Kaplinsky officially started the run.

At least £1130 has been raised so far to support the charity and its work caring for profoundly disabled people and their families across East Sussex.

All those entering were given their own Santa suits and medal with refreshments and mince pies afterwards provided courtesy of Harvey’s Brewery.

The Bevern Trust relies on donations from the public to raise more than £12,000 each month to continue providing its specialist services and opportunities for profoundly disabled people to get more from life.

Lewes Santa Run 2017 was supported by Lewes District Council and sponsored by Lewes businesses Harvey’s, HRS Creative and WE Clark & Son, which means all the money raised from runner’s sponsorship goes towards the vital care The Bevern Trust provides.
