B Side, Fortune Of War, Brighton, August 1

Charity club night B Side is returning for a one-off special featuring international star DJ Adam Freeland.

B Side raises money for the charity Bottletop, which funds youth education projects, with particular emphasis on sexual health, through its own fashionable clothing line and albums such as Sound Affects: Africa. Adam has donated a remix to the album's follow-up Sound Affects: Brazil, and will be playing that as well as is own brand of eclectic mixes.

With ten years on the club scene Adam has residencies at clubs such as London's Fabric and has played the international Coachella music festival three times.

Among the seven mix CDs to his name are compilations for the likes of Fabric and Back To Mine, as well as an instalment of the Global Underground series, which has previously featured selections by Sasha and James Lavelle.

His career has also seen him remix acts including Kelis, Orbital, The Doors and Fujiya and Miyagi as well as a Grammy-nominated remix of Sarah Vaughn's Fever.

What makes him stand out as a DJ is his wide-ranging turntable selections, ranging from current dancefloor fillers by Justice, Phones and My My to more unusual rock, indie and pop selections including Van Halen, Spacemen 3 and Mylo.

"I was never quite one of those dudes trying to pay off a mortgage with each gig," he says. "To do that I'd have to play music I don't like. And I hate being pigeonholed."

  • Starts 9pm, £5. Call 07830 133589.
