A RESIDENT is celebrating after winning a competition to name Churchill Retirement Living’s new development on Rowe Avenue in Peacehaven.
Jill Blake, who has lived locally for over 19 years, was presented with a cheque for £100 at a naming ceremony for the new Neville Lodge development.
Ms Blake said: “I saw the competition advertised and wanted to think of a name that had a nice historical connection to the area.
“Peacehaven was established in 1916 by Charles Neville, an entrepreneur.
“He named the town Peacehaven after running his own naming competition in a national newspaper.
“It therefore seemed apt to honour him in this way, just over 100 years later!”
Anne Scherrer, regional marketing manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We like to involve the local community in choosing the names for our developments and we often do so by running a competition..
“We received a vast number of entries for the new Peacehaven development but especially liked the Charles Neville connection.”
