HOUSES and flats in the city have been targeted in a series of burglaries.
There have been seven offences in the Kemp Town area since December 22, including College Road, College Gardens, Great College Street, Montague Place and Abbey Road.
Three of the burglaries took place in Great College Street on January 15 and 16.
The offences have taken place at different times in the day and mainly electrical items such as laptops and mobiles have been stolen.
Police are increasing patrols in the area and officers are investigating.
Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: "We would urge the local community to be vigilant, to assess their home security and ensure doors and windows are secured.
"It is possible that the suspect or suspects are local the area and we are appealing for information about any suspicious people or activity.
"You can contact us online or by calling 101 quoting serial 238 of 17/01.
"But if you see anything happening, dial 999 straight away."
