CHRIS HUGHTON says Albion have unfinished business in the January transfer window as they fight for Premier League survival.

He wants another attacking option after loan signing Izzy Brown’s return to Chelsea with a long-term knee injury.

It could even be another striker to supplement record signing Jurgen Locadia rather than a like-for-like replacement for Brown, who was used as a No.10 or out on the left.

Hughton told The Argus: “We are trying. It’s very difficult and that’s why up until now there hasn’t been so much business done at Premier League level.

“But we are trying to be as strong as possible.”

Brown’s return to Stamford Bridge does not automatically give Albion scope for two loans unless Chelsea agree to cancel the deal, which was scheduled to be for the whole season.

Hughton is relieved to have an attention-diverting FA Cup fourth round trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday after losing heavily to Chelsea.

“Yes, particularly right at this moment,” he said.

“We are on the back of a 4-0 defeat, which I don’t think is a reflection of the game as a whole, particularly with some of the chances we had and perhaps the penalty opportunities we had.

“So at this moment it feels quite a low moment. I think we’ll look forward to a Cup game and freshen again and look forward to a very tough series of games coming up.”
