ELDERLY people enjoyed a ride in the fresh air along the seafront.

Residents from RMBI Home Barford Court in Kingsway, Hove, have been enjoying regular rides with volunteers as part of the Cycling Without Age movement.

The idea started in 2012 in Denmark and now enables older people around the world to get “back on a bike” and take a free ride on a trishaw, a three-wheeled rickshaw.

Volunteers are supporting residents at Barford Court in by doing the pedalling.

Business administrator Catherine Hobday said: “Residents get to go outside and to appreciate the area they live in, the environment, to share stories and to forge intergenerational relationships. This meaningful activity adds value to our residents’ lives and has a positive impact on their wellbeing.

“Residents taking part said their rides were tremendous fun.”
