WHEN you think of cutting-edge photography, knitwear doesn’t exactly spring to mind.
But a Brighton snapper is dressing his models in woolly jumpers to make work that demands a second look.
Joseph Ford, 39, pictured inset right, who lives on Clyde Road, is interested in how subjects can blend into their surroundings.
The photographer has travelled all over the world but most of the pictures above were mostly taken in Brighton and Paris. All the knitwear was made by Joseph’s friend Nina Dodd.
Joseph said: “She knitted a jumper with the Brighton bus pattern and with their help we staged a picture on a bus with a local model.
“I loved the result and started looking for other locations to photograph with similar knitted jumpers. I like creating work that makes people stop and pause for a minute rather than flicking by.”
Joseph studied in Paris before moving to Brighton so his wife could complete a PhD. The photographer said the city provided regular inspiration.
“Brighton has a great range of interesting-looking people and I’ll often spot potential projects when I’m walking around town.”
