ALBION captain Bruno has been announced as a new ambassador of Chestnut Tree House Football Club.

The team exists to raise funds for the children’s hospice, which is near Arundel.

News of Bruno’s support comes ahead of a match on Sunday.

Rapper Dappy, from N-Dubz, is one of the celebrities confirmed to play in the game, which is taking place at Worthing FC’s ground in Woodside Road. Kick-off is 1.30pm.

Ex-footballers taking part include Neil “Razor” Ruddock, the ex-Liverpool, Spurs and West Ham defender; Paul Konchesky, who played for Liverpool, Leicester and England; and former Sutton goalkeeper Wayne Shaw, best known for being filmed eating a pie during the 2017 FA Cup.

Other sports stars attending will be Scott Nicholls, seven times British Speedway champion, and boxer Kevin Mitchell, a former Commonwealth and British super featherweight champion.

TV fans will also get a chance to see EastEnders actor Matthew Lapinskas, First Dates waiter Austin Ventour, 2013 MasterChef winner Steven Edwards and Celebrity Big Brother star Heavy D.

Vicky Norman, corporate fundraiser at the hospice, said: “The charity football matches are a fantastic way to increase awareness of Chestnut Tree House as well as raising vital funds.

“As a charity, we need to raise £6,850 per day to provide all our specialist care services for local life-limited children, both at the hospice and out in the community, which makes fundraising events like this invaluable.

“We would like to thank everyone involved in making the football matches a success and particularly one of our long-term supporters, Jamie Westley, who works so hard organising these events.

“We are so grateful for Jamie’s ongoing support and are excited that Bruno Saltor has become ambassador of Chestnut Tree House Football Club.”

Jamie set up and runs Chestnut Tree House FC.

Bruno is also one of Chestnut Tree House’s anniversary patrons as the charity celebrates 15 years since opening.

Chestnut Tree House provides care and support to hundreds of children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Sussex.

A Chestnut Tree House FC gala dinner is planned for March 3 at The Grand, Brighton.
