Plucky Britney Spears fans braved the icy wind yesterday morning as they queued for Brighton Pride tickets.

Demand for this year's Pride was so high it crashed the Ticketmaster website, forcing dedicated fans to wrap up and face the streets outside The Sussex Beacon, St James's Street, Brighton.

Britney fanatic John Mudie, 35, from Burton Villas, said: "I've not bought a Preston Park ticket in years, but Britney's in Brighton so I've got to go."

Mr Mudie had queued for over 45 minutes and with shops across Brighton selling out of tickets the queue was only expected to get longer.

The superstar’s appearance at the festival is a real coup for organisers, headlining on the Saturday with Nile Rodgers leading the line-up on the Sunday.

As ticket numbers dwindle demand will always be stronger than yesterday, and if fans want to stand out in the cold, that’s their prerogative.
