THE wife of a man who led a double life insists he will “do it again” when he leaves prison.

Michael Eels, originally from Eastbourne, was given three months in prison for bigamy on Valentine’s Day after years of telling his family he was suffering from terminal cancer.

Eels, 59, was actually living with a second wife, Sally Howard, 345 miles away in Northumberland.

And his first wife, Andrea, is certain he will be up to his disgraceful tricks as soon as he is released.

Speaking after her husband’s sentencing at Lewes Crown Court, she told The Argus: “I am devastated he only got three months.

“I was hoping for up to seven years.

“It’s better than nothing, but he’s only going to do it again.”

Andrea claimed Eels “is already engaged” to yet another woman.

She said she “tried my best to look at him” while reading her victim impact statement to the court.

Eels, though, remained emotionless during his time in the dock.

He married second wife Sally, who he met online, in Bexhill in 2009, borrowing £4,000 from her father to pay for the wedding.

Eels’s sick double life was revealed last year when Andrea opened a Facebook message from Sally.

Sally discovered a Christmas card addressed to Eels at their Northumberland home.

Curious, she found Andrea on Facebook and messaged her, but Andrea took three years to open it. The two then met and were shocked to find out they were married to the same man.

Andrea still lives at their marital home in Hampden Park. They have three children together – Adam, Alanah and Hannah.

“We’ve got each other, and that’s all that matters,” said Andrea.

Eels was ordered to pay both wives £1,000 in compensation.

Hannah, 19, supported her mother in court.

She said: “When he told us he had a terminal illness, mum was depressed.

“He was just a very good liar. Hopefully I will never see him again.

“Adam was the worst – he didn’t want to come to court. Alanah is more reluctant. She was always daddy’s girl.”

Hannah admires her mother for coping with the situation.

“My mum has to be the person I look up to,” she said.

“She has worked her backside off to provide for her children. He never gave us anything. Not even a thought.

“He doesn’t deserve anyone.”
