A DOORMAN filmed repeatedly punching a young man on the ground in a shocking video posted on Facebook is now under investigation.

The security guard for The Mash Tun was filmed punching a man on the ground in the face outside the pub in Church Street, Brighton.

In the disturbing one minute 30 second clip the bouncer, who was contracted from private firm Resolve Security, can be seen giving the youth a barrage of punches while shouting at him.

The video starts with the man on the ground and the bouncer accusing him of “bottling a bloke”.

The man, wearing a security industry association (SIA) licence tag and Resolve Security jacket , then shouts “you ***king ****k”, before striking him.

He continues, while throwing more punches: “What are you going to do when I smash you in the ***king face. You ***t.”

Two other security guards could be seen standing by as their colleague threw a number of punches.

The shocking incident at about 12.30am on Saturday was witnessed by dozens of revellers, one of who shouts “leave it now, ***king hell”.

Another bystander shouts he is “blind” [the youth did not have his glasses on], before the guard aggressively approaches him and says “***king blind throwing ***king bottles at us, shut your noise then”.

He can also be heard calling the young man cowering on the ground a “scumbag”.

After the video was posted on a local skater group, the footage was quickly shared on social media.

The Mash Tun said it speedily responded to the video and said the contracted security guards had been replaced.

A spokesman said: “At the weekend a member of the door team supplied to us by our security company overreacted to a violent act against him.

“He will no longer be working with us and the following night we had a new door team.”

The guard had been working for private security firm Resolve Security, which supplies security for clients including Brighton and Hove City Council, Brighton and Hove Albion and several nightclubs, according to its website.

The security firm, based in Peacehaven, said it was investigating.

An operations manager said: “This is a work issue, this has nothing to do with the newspaper.

“At the moment there is an investigation because there are counter allegations and I will not be disclosing any more for now.

“It is under investigation and that is all I will say.”

The operations manager put down the phone when The Argus asked if the guard had been suspended.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police were called to an incident in Church Street, Brighton, at 12.31am on Saturday where a group of youths were reported to have been skateboarding and jumping on a car.

“They were asked to leave the area by door staff at the Mash Tun pub and shortly afterwards a glass was thrown.

“As a result, an altercation took place between the two groups resulting in one of the youths suffering a swollen and bloody nose and having his glasses broken.

“An ambulance was declined and police took the victim and his friends to a local address.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it is asked to report online at https://sussex.police.uk/appealresponse or call 101 quoting serial 35 of 10/02.”
