A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being stabbed in the street. 

Police were called to Carisbrooke Drive, Durrington, around 8pm on Tuesday after reports of man with stab wounds. 

The 39-year-old victim was taken to Worthing Hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he was initially assessed as being in a serious but not life threatening condition. 

Sussex Police said an investigation is under way and no arrests have been made. 

They said they believed it was not a random attack.
