BRIGHTON is in the top three destinations nationwide for women to have their hen parties.

The city is just behind Edinburgh and London, with the country’s capital topping the list.

The survey was carried out by Jurys Inn, which has two venues in Brighton.

Head of marketing Suzanne Cannon said: “There is a lot of pressure on wedding parties to send their friends off into a life of wedded bliss in style, but that doesn’t necessarily have to cost the world.”

Brighton for men as a stag do destination is the fifth most popular choice behind London, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Birmingham.

The survey was carried out ahead of the forthcoming Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

It also revealed UK wedding parties fork out more than £80 million each year on the pre-wedding rituals alone.

Grooms are the big spenders, paying £3.82 million more than women on hen dos – every year Brits spend £42,15 million on hen dos and £45.97 million on stags.

Almost a quarter of men (22 per cent) admit a visit to a strip club is mandatory, as is watching sport (18 per cent) and drinking games (18 per cent).

Women want to dance the night away (53 per cent), have a spa experience (39 per cent) or have a city break.
