Tributes are pouring in for a teenage boy killed on Brighton seafront.

The 15-year-old was knocked down by a bus just before 1am on Saturday

Those who knew the boy - thought to have been a pupil at Dorothy Stringer school - described him as  "loved by many."

Schoolfriends described him as a "lovely bloke".

The boy, from Brighton, was hit head-on by the Number 6 just before 1am on Saturday morning.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash, in Marine Parade in Brighton just opposite Bloomsbury Place, at 12.51am.

They rushed the boy to the Royal Sussex County Hospital but he was declared dead at 1.19am.

Paying tribute on Facebook Mark Preston said: "I have known the lad since he was small. He was a person, loved by many and a school friend of my daughter during both primary and secondary. RIP."

A school friend leaving flowers at the scene yesterday evening said: "He was a lovely bloke. We didn't know him well but felt we wanted to come down and pay our respects. It's just so tragic."
Debbie Selling sent her condolences to the boy's mother via Facebook.

She said: "My heart goes out to you. Much love to your family at this terrible time for you."

Samantha Byrne-Smith said: "How very sad. Condolences to the boy's family and friends and the bus driver. It's a terrible tragic accident. RIP young man."
