Emergency services search water off Rottingdean beach
EMERGENCY services were called to pull a body out of the sea - only to find the suspected corpse was a floating log.
Police, Coastguard and ambulance crews scaled a major search at Rottingdean beach yesterday morning.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "We received a report of a possible sighting of a body in the water off Rottingdean Beach at 10.40am on Thursday.
"A search by coastguard and the lifeboat found that the object was a log. "
