HUNDRED-YEAR-OLD motorcycles warmed up their engines in the biting cold to trundle into Brighton.
The veteran vehicles joined the annual Pioneer Run from Epsom Downs to Madeira Drive – but because of the snow many riders joined the 79th annual event from Pease Pottage instead of driving the full route.
Spectator Allison Marsh, who watched the riders leaving Surrey, said: “I’ve just seen one brave soul on an old bike go by. He looked absolutely frozen and he had only gone one mile. Good luck to him.”
One rider Renny Morgan said: “At Brighton having supported father and brother ride from Pease Pottage, roads much better from there.”
More than 300 entrants take part in the popular event each year.
To join in, motorcycles, tricycles or bikes and sidecars must have left the factory before January 1 1915.
