THE Lewes District Business Awards are now open for entries following a launch at The Depot in Lewes.

The awards recognise success, innovation and excellence in the business community.

They are free to enter and open to organisations of all sizes and sectors.

Guests heard from previous winner, and now sponsor, Wave Leisure Trust on what makes an award entry stand out, while Councillor Elayne Merry thanked this year’s sponsors for their continued support.

She said: “It is an exciting year for the Lewes District Business Awards with a new and prestigious venue for finals night at the Amex Stadium in July.

“The Awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the vibrant and innovative business community in Lewes and they couldn’t take place without the support of our fantastic sponsors.”

This year’s list of 14 categories to enter include Company of the Year, Best Independent Retailer, Best Green Business and Employer of the Year.

Businesses can enter up to three categories and deadline for submissions is April 30.

The judging panel will consist of representatives from category sponsors and industry professionals including ACES Magazine, Basepoint, Cheesmur Building Contractors, Gemini Print, LEAP, Platinum Business Magazine, Uniglobe, Veolia, Viva Lewes and Wave Leisure Trust.

Supporters include Peacehaven Chamber of Commerce, Seaford Chamber of Commerce, Newhaven Chamber of Commerce and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce.

David Sheppard, Chairman of Sussex Chamber of Commerce, returns as Chair of Judges.

David joined the Board of Sussex Enterprise in January 2013 and became Chairman in April 2015.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday July 19 at the AMEX Stadium.

Around 300 of the district’s leading businesspeople, sponsors and judges will attend.
