A MAN is in critical condition with a serious head injury.
The 42-year-old was found unconscious at a flat in St Augustine Road, Littlehampton, after a fight was reported to police yesterday afternoon.
He was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
Two men, aged 52 and 49, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
They are currently in custody awaiting interview.
The three men are known to each other, police said.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "At 3.15pm on Wednesday, officers were called to a fight at a flat in St Augustine Road, Littlehampton.
"A 42-year-old man was found unconscious and was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton to be treated for a serious head injury.
"His condition is currently assessed as critical.
"Two men aged 52 and 49 have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and are currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.
"The three men are known to each other.
"Officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team are investigating, working with local officers, and if anyone has any information that could help the investigation they should contact police online sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal or ring 101 quoting Operation Oulton."
