A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of trespassing at Brighton station.

Routes in and out of the city were halted just after 6am today, causing huge delays for commuters.

Southern Railway has announced all lines to and from Brighton have reopened.

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Brighton rail station this morning following reports of a person on the tracks.

"The call came into police at 6.16am.

"Officers attended and a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of trespass.

"He is currently in police custody.

"Train services were cancelled for around an hour as a result of the incident."

Passengers described their morning as utter chaos as train platforms were flooded with frustrated commuters.

One passenger even shared she had to sit in the luggage shelf because the carriages were so packed.

Brighton Tech Job also posted a photo of the amount of people who were stuck at the station.
