BRIGHTON and Hove Albion’s official charity has received a generous donation from a Rotary club.

Members of Brighton and Hove South Downs Rotary Club visited the Seagulls’ American Express Elite Football Performance Centre in Lancing to hand over a cheque for £1,400 to Albion in the Community.

It follows a previous donation of £500 and will help AITC fund its football sessions for people with a disability.

The charity runs 30 such sessions, which are regularly attended by around 300 people.

Albion legends Danny Cullip and Guy Butters joined the charity’s chair of trustees Martin Perry to accept the cheque.

Cullip and Butters both now work full-time for AITC and have also previously visited the Rotary Club to talk to members about the work the charity does.

Mr Perry then led members on a behind-the-scenes tour of the training ground.

He said: “As a charity we are incredibly grateful for the continued generous support of Brighton and Hove South Downs Rotary Club and I would like to once again place on record our thanks to the group and its members.

“Donations like this enable us to continue to deliver our sessions throughout Sussex and generosity of this kind makes a real impact on the lives of local people.”

Rotary president Ray Eggleton said members were only too pleased to be able to support the charity, citing the work that it does in the local community as something that resonates with the Rotary club.
