AS Community Partner for the Brighton Marathon Weekend, American Express called on spectators from across Sussex and further afield to get involved in a massive visual show of support with ‘signs of encouragement’ to help motivate runners along the route.

Beverly Sawyers, Vice President, American Express, said: “This year’s event has been an amazing demonstration of the power of the Sussex community, including many of my Amex colleagues, coming together to support local charities and individual endeavour.

“A huge thank you to all the runners, volunteers and spectators who came out in their thousands to line the route and show their support.

“We were delighted to once again support the Brighton Marathon Weekend, which has grown significantly since we first became involved.

“One of the key events in the city’s calendar, it attracts huge visitor numbers and supports hundreds of local charities.

“As Community Partner we strive to get the whole community behind the event, by participating, volunteering or spectating along the route and cheering on runners.”
