A LEADING craft bakery has opened in Bognor.

Warrens Bakery sold a staggering 1,595 pasties in the store’s first four days, of which 781 were its famed medium steak pasties.

The new bakery, in the Arcade in the High Street, was officially opened by Bognor Mayor Phil Woodall.

During its first few days of trading the store saw 1,745 customers through its doors.

Franchisees Lee and Emma Johnston said: “We’re immensely proudly to be part of the much-awaited regeneration scheme for Bognor and employing six local residents.

“At Warrens Bakery, we start every day with ovens full of freshly baked breads, breakfast treats and our famous Cornish pasties followed by delicious cakes and tray bakes.

“We look forward to bringing these award-winning delicacies to Bognor.

“We have been truly overwhelmed by the level of support shown by the town.

“So many members of the public have shared with us their fond memories of holidays to Cornwall, eating Cornish pasties and enjoying saffron cakes.

“It’s certainly something that as parents of a young family we resonate with.

“We both grew up spending holidays enjoying Cornwall’s beauty and the region’s tasty treats and have continued that tradition with our own children.

“This is one of the reasons we decided to bring Warrens Bakery and their hand crafted goods to Bognor.”
