A BUSINESS is to receive the Queen’s Award for Innovation for a software programme which its team developed for the military.

tlmNEXUS, based in Telecom House in Preston Road, Brighton, was named as one of the recipients by the Queen as part of her birthday celebrations over the weekend.

Co-founder and director David Appleton said: “We are absolutely delighted tlmNEXUS has been recognised with a Queen’s Award for Innovation for the development of our software, which helps improve safety and operational effectiveness within the MOD and its supply chain.

“It is encouraging to receive such recognition for all of our team’s hard work.”

The company has been based in Brighton for more than ten years and employs more than 70 staff.

It has plans to create further jobs for software engineers and other disciplines in the months and years to come.

tlmNEXUS has developed a range of software foundations which are configured according to the customer’s specific application.

Its best-known software, Resolve, links all the information needed for the safety and sustained effectiveness of the majority of aircraft within the RAF fleet.

Previously this data had to be sourced from lots of different systems, and now Resolve provides engineers with all aircraft data at the touch of a button.

The system represents a significant step forward in the management of safety through-life engineering and sustained effectiveness of aircraft.

Mr Appleton said: “When we founded the business, we had a dream to use technology to improve inefficient processes within the military, to make things run more smoothly.

“We never dreamed that a few years down the line we would be receiving Royal recognition for one of our products.

“We are now exploring ways to develop our software foundations to cover land vehicles and sea vessels, and we have plans to expand into other sectors where its capability could be useful for support with other long-term, complex projects.

“We are an ambitious, entrepreneurial and adaptable business and we pride ourselves on our ability to build and maintain fruitful, long-term relationships with clients and team members alike.

“In fact, we have a very low turnover of staff, and vacancies arise largely due to team growth.

“We maintain a small company mindset, and pride ourselves on remaining agile and flexible.”
