Naked Six are a powerhouse of raw energy. The two-man line-up possess more amps than a six-man band.

Drummer Tom Witts massacres the drums while Seb Byford generates more sound on bass than a trio of guitars.

Visually, Seb struts the stage with the balletic menace of a Droog from Clockwork Orange while Witts brings a powerful physicality to his drumming.

The amount of sound that these two produce is reminiscent of Cream, Def Leppard and Led Zep at their pomp. The fact that this was one drummer and one bass guitar working together was doubly remarkable.

Witts, who is from Seaford in Sussex and Byford first got together at college in York and are already creating waves across the UK. Seb is clearly doing his best to match up to his illustrious father Biff Byford the bass player with heavy metal band Saxon.

Emphasis was put on newer material and featured In Your Head, Unwind, Heart Brake and Cant Trust. This was crunching music that would have filled a bigger venue.

The band are currently on tour with Tax the Heat, who topped the bill with their classic rock, hard riffs and catchy melodies. The Bristol outfit have already produced two albums and are attracting favourable reviews and critical acclaim.

Fresh from the success of their 2016 album, Fed the Lions, the four man line up bring a flavour of the Jam and Paul Weller to their song writing and presentation which was tight and energetic.

The turnout was disappointing but that was partly due to this being a Monday evening and a particularly bleak and cold one at that. But this was great music that should have been enjoyed by more.
