Hundreds of Albion fans have shown their support for the work of the club’s charity.

Albion in the Community held its first-ever Blue and White Day today, with the charity calling on all Seagulls fans, young and old, to wear the club’s colours and raise money for the charity.

Pupils at many of the 129 local schools Albion in the Community works with throughout the year and staff several businesses dressed in blue and white for a fun-filled day.

Matt Dorn, the charity’s chief executive officer, said: “As a charity, fundraising campaigns like this are incredibly important to us as they allow us not only to continue the work we do, but also expand it, creating more opportunities for people across Sussex.

“To have so many people showing their support for the work we do by joining in with Blue and White Day was fantastic.”

Staff at Plus Accounting, Brighton Gin, Gemini Print and telecommunications firm Focus Group all joined in with the fun.

Two colleagues from MS Roofing Supplies, one being an Albion fan and the other a Crustal Palace supporter, even adorned their rival team’s football shirt for the day.

Pupils and staff at the various participating schools and businesses were paid a special visit from Seagulls mascot Gully.

Zara Phillips, the charity’s sports mentor at Patcham High School, said: “I think the work we do here is priceless.

“There are a lot of children here that are engaging with the charity outside of school.”

Some of the club’s star players and WSL squads went along to the American Express offices in John Street, Brighton, to show their appreciation for staff who supported the campaign day.

Money raised will help fund the charity’s football sessions for disabled people. To donate visit justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/aitc/bwday2018.
